B&T Composites and Componous had the opportunity to participate in the 1st Workshop “Florina 2025: Building the Future – Partnership for Skills Development, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship”, organized by Metavasi S.A. and the Skills Development and Employment Center of Florina.

Through our presentation and the constructive dialogue that followed, our team engaged with stakeholders and participants, exchanged ideas on digital upskilling for young people, and discussed internship and practical training opportunities within our professional environment.

At B&T Composites, we recently had the pleasure of hosting a graduation presentation carried out in collaboration with the School of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Western Macedonia, as part of a student’s final thesis project.

Within this collaboration, a graduating student transformed production waste from our filament-winding processes into an artistic creation, giving composite materials new form and meaning through creative interpretation.

This project reflected a core belief we actively support: art and technology are not opposing concepts, but deeply interconnected and complementary, each enabling the evolution and advancement of the other.

B&T Composites was honored to participate in the NAVAL GROUP R&D Partners Days 2025, held in Athens, an event focused on advancing collaborative research, technological innovation, and applied R&D in the naval sector.

During the event, B&T Composites highlighted its active role in developing an advanced composite structure, underscoring its core expertise in composite manufacturing and structural design for high-performance naval applications. The participation was driven by research and engineering contributions, underlining B&T Composites’ involvement beyond a purely business or promotional presence.

A key technological highlight was the integration of a smart sensing system, developed in collaboration with Componous, a subsidiary spin-off of B&T Composites and a high-tech start-up specializing in advanced sensing technologies. The system features a patented 4-channel optoelectronic sensing platform that enables real-time structural health monitoring and acoustic emission detection. This technology provides in-depth insight into material behavior and delivers early warnings for critical structural events, significantly enhancing reliability and safety in naval composite structures.

The presentation emphasized the integration of sensing intelligence directly into composite structures, reflecting a holistic R&D approach that combines materials engineering, digital monitoring, and predictive maintenance strategies.

B&T Composites proudly participated in the European Defence Venture Studio expert panel during DEFEA 2025, contributing to a high-level discussion on “Unlocking Defence Innovation.”

The session explored the role of SMEs in advancing European defence technologies and addressing key challenges within the defence innovation ecosystem. Drawing on its expertise in advanced composite materials and high-performance applications, B&T Composites shared insights into how material innovation and engineering-driven approaches can support the development of next-generation defence solutions, while emphasizing the value of cross-sector collaboration in accelerating technological progress.

The panel was moderated by Antonios Platias, Managing Director of THYREON, and brought together experts from EU institutions, industry, and the military. A central theme that emerged from the discussion was the importance of speed through collaboration in translating innovation into operational capability.

Key discussion highlights included:

• Simplifying administrative processes to enable faster SME-led innovation
• Translating insights from CARD-2024 and HEDI pilot projects into targeted policy improvements
• Strengthening cooperation between primes, mid-caps, and SMEs through early co-design
• Aligning operational requirements with emerging technologies to shorten development cycles
• Leveraging regional clusters and talent mobility to accelerate deployment, particularly in naval and aerospace domains
